The Regional District of Central Kootenay has closed the Nelson Salmo Great NorthernTrail (formerly the Burlington Northern Santa Fe right of way) between Stanley Street entrance and Hall Siding because of two slides.
The closure is a precaution. Slide areas are dangerous as there may be danger of additional slides or flooding events. The closure will be in effect until Monday April 30, 2012 at which time the situation will be re-evaluated.
